Welcome to Little Dipper! We offer fresh, homemade soups and stews out of our fully sustainable, solar-powered trailer located at the corner of 5th and F Streets at Alpine Park in sunny, downtown Salida, CO.
You can find us Wednesday- Saturday, from 11-Sunset during the winter months.

What was once an ice cream trailer is now an efficient and fully self-sustained stew and soup trailer. After many months of hard work, it is now equipped to run completely on its own.
The trailer has been taking advantage of Colorado’s abundant sunshine. Solar panels, a lithium battery, and propane complete the trifecta of “off grid” cooking. In addition, the Little Dipper is always trying to minimize its footprint by offering reusable or compostable to-go containers.

Our signature homemade bone broth
Our specialty is homemade bone broth, which is made by simmering down animal bones and connective tissue for 48 hours. This nutrient dense stock is full of collagen, minerals, vitamins, and essential fatty acids. Bone broth includes these health benefits: an increase in bone and joint health, reinforcement of skin elasticity, support for the digestive system, and a decreased inflammation throughout the body.
All of Little Dipper’s animal bones and meat used are sourced locally from Arrowpoint Cattle Co.
About us
Little Dipper is brought to you by Hennessey and Kendall, who have been living in Salida, CO, for the last 4 years. After many years of cooking in restaurants and at home, they finally decided to take charge and create a business of their own! With a longstanding love for stews and soups (and small trailers), together they created the Little Dipper. Bringing Salida a quick and healthy food option.
When they are not running the Little Dipper, they enjoy their summers as raft guides on the Lower Arkansas River and the Green River through Gates of Lodore.
